The Tissot Story

In excess of 150 years, Tissot has embodied the innovation and tradition of Swiss watch-making. Based in the Neuchâtel section of the Jura Mountains, in Le Locle, Switzerland, Charles-Félicien Tissot with his fantastic son Charles-Emile came up with the watch making company Tissot in 1853. Whether inside technology of the movements, from the research for special materials or in ab muscles functions in the watch itself, Tissot's engineers and watchmakers are suffering from pioneering timepieces in recent times.

Most of Tissot's triumphs through the years range from the the concept 2001 (our planet's first plastic watch) released in 1971, the Rock watch (which set the timepiece's movement in the stone case made from Swiss Alps granite) in 1985, along with the Wood watch from 1988 (with a completely wooden case). Tissot uses the best movements (from ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse), the best quality materials (316L steel, 18K gold, titanium) and scratch-proof glasses (sapphire crystal--at the very least 2500 Vickers).

The business continues to be associated with seen sports events since 1974 after they sponsored a race car inside 24 Hours of Le Mans, France. Ever since then Tissot's timepieces are already chosen as official timekeepers for world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing and hockey game. And Tissot is the the state watch and timekeeper of NASCAR.

Tissot timepieces are actually worn by a bevy of celebrities through the years--including Grace Kelly, Elvis Presley and Nelson Mandela--and James Stewart's character L.B. Jefferies wore a Tissot timepiece in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window." Today the company is represented in many different sporting fields by English soccer star Michael Owen, IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, and MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden. Today, Tissot is often a member of the Swatch Group, the earth's largest watch producer and distributor.

This watch looks gorgeous and that i haven't any doubt that it is authentic although Amazon seriously isn't an official Tissot dealer as well as the watch isn't included in 2-year Tissot's warranty that may be replaced with the same warranty from Amazon.

Concerning the precision in this timepiece, fogged headlights Tissot says at its FAQ page: "The precision from the watch depends upon the movement as well as on the person habits of the wearer which enable it to therefore vary. A knowledgeable TISSOT watchmaker can adjust the precision of your watch to from the TISSOT tolerances. Virtually all watches that wont use a chronometer certificate have average precision tolerances of between -10/+half a minute each day. To generate the title of chronometer, the mechanical movement's average daily variation in rate has to be between -4/+6 seconds on a daily basis." - so this watch may be removed from -10 to +30 seconds daily. I'll contact Amazon to find out whether they'd like to tune my watch that runs at +20 seconds that's within technical specification. Otherwise, if you need better time precision, opt for chronograph or quartz. Tissot's quartz watches tend to be precise than mechanical ones. Again, fogged headlights their FAQ page says: "All TISSOT quartz movements are produced in accordance with TISSOT's highly renowned procedures and quality standards. Ambient temperature may affect the precision of quartz movements, resulted in variations which can be between -0.5 and +0.7 seconds every day."

While i received this watch, a surprise. It can be bigger and even more beautifull than I supposed. May be due to its white and clear background. Some details result in the difference: the red T in the second-hand, the visor to discover the mechanism working (behind the timepiece), the antireflective-sapphire window dial plus the sportive band (calfskin that has a stell close system). As an automatic watch (self widding)it stops unless you put it to use, but this is the main charm with this watch that's the classical swiss art and technology of mechanical movement. May possibly not be as precise like a quartz (may be a minute or so every month bias), nevertheless , you never need to change batteries! Plus a legitime swiss automatic Tissot bellow $400 is an effective buying.
